From the same series as Poolside Gossip, this photograph illustrates the diversity of prints available. It can be found both as an official limited edition from the Aarons Estate and as a much more widely distributed commercial version. Prices and rarity therefore vary significantly depending on the provenance.

Eden-Roc Pool

Photographed in August 1976 at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, this Mediterranean pool scene is available as an official limited edition of 150 prints, numbered and estate-stamped by the Aarons Estate, in formats ranging from 20 × 25 cm to approximately 1.80 m in width. Like the two previous photographs, it is also available as a decorative reproduction from several European publishers.

Buying a Slim Aarons Print

Available Formats and Editions

Three main categories coexist on the market for Aarons’ photographs:

• Open editions: museum-quality pigment prints, unnumbered and available in several standard formats;
• Limited estate-stamped editions: C-prints made using traditional photographic processes on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper, hand-numbered and bearing the Aarons Estate stamp, generally limited to 150 copies per format;
• Decorative reproductions: offered by third-party publishers on canvas, aluminium, or as lightboxes. These are neither numbered nor authenticated by the rights holder and are therefore more suited to interior decoration than photographic collecting.

Other sought-after images follow the same logic in terms of formats and prices, including Poolside Pairs (the companion image to Poolside Gossip, photographed on the same day in Palm Springs), Penthouse Pool, and scenes captured at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Though photographed in fleeting moments, these images were carefully staged with the same attention to composition.

Authenticity and Certificate

Only works sourced from the Getty Images Gallery or through channels authorised by the Aarons Estate come with a certificate of authenticity and an embossed stamp confirming their provenance.

An estate-stamped print also bears a handwritten ink edition number and is produced by photographic laboratory specialists using techniques faithful to the original darkroom processes.

By contrast, a decorative reproduction without a certificate or provenance information should not be presented as a collectible artwork. This distinction is essential before making a purchase.
